A day in the life
On a typical day as a Senior System Development Engineer (SysDev), you will collaborate with internal service teams to enhance system health, maintainability, and operational efficiency. Your work will involve improving tooling and product builds, ensuring that our systems run smoothly and effectively. Additionally, you will tackle complex technical challenges faced by our customers, providing global solutions to these advanced problems. As part of the Amazon Dedicated Cloud community, you may also be required to offer on-call support across various Serverless technology stacks, ensuring that our services remain reliable and robust.The primary focus of the team is on the growth and delivery of the Lambda, API Gateway and PrivateLink services. Working in a high-trust environment, you will partner closely with internal service teams to quickly resolve issues through code, driving positive customer experiences. The team was formed in response to the significant growth of related services in recent years, highlighting the need for agility and a proactive approach to solving emergent challenges.In this role, you will be solving problems that directly impact the performance and reliability of our cloud services. You will work with a variety of internal stakeholders, including other engineers, product managers, and support teams, to ensure that our solutions meet the needs of our customers. The end goal is to maintain the high standards of service that AWS is known for, while continuously improving and innovating to stay ahead of industry demands.

- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Bachelor's degree, or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above
- Experience with distributed systems at scale
- Experience building services using AWS products
- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
- Experience working with Kubernetes or other container orchestration technology
