Qualcomm is looking for an accomplished and visionary VP to lead Performance Systems for our Client Compute business. As a key member of the engineering leadership team for Compute, you will own and drive all aspects of performance including setting the performance strategy and driving execution from early projections through development and optimization, to delivery on customer platforms. You'll analyze complex system level performance aspects and drive design and process improvements to maximize performance on benchmarks and real-world workloads while balancing power consumption and thermal.

The ideal candidate has extensive background and proven experience in analysis and optimization of performance through improvements to IP microarchitecture, SoC architecture, and all layers of software. This role also requires strong ability to influence across organizational boundaries. You will work closely with hardware and software architects, hardware designers, SW developers, as well as external stake holders such as OS partners, app developers, and OEMs. The candidate must be a self-starter, have excellent leadership skills, and ability to create structure from ambiguous and at times conflicting requirements. The candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • In-depth analysis of key benchmarks and applications to identify optimization opportunities

  • Identify and drive hardware and software optimizations to maximize performance while balancing power consumption

  • Develop and enhance analysis tools and instrumentation to assist in analysis, identifying performance gaps and discover optimization opportunities

  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners

  • Solves complex technical problems that affect significant areas of products.

  • Makes decisions based on incomplete, contradictory, and ambiguous requirements and information and guide with work of multiple teams

  • Leads others with technical credibility

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.

  • 20+ years of experience with focus on Performance/Power optimization through hardware and software methods

  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation and measurement of performance and power

  • Ability to debug complex problems across multiple layers of Hardware, apps, OS, compiler, and drivers

  • Experience with performance or power optimizations on Windows products

  • Experience with optimizing for popular Windows applications

  • Experience with optimizing for popular CPU, GPU, or NPU benchmarks

  • Familiarity with ARM architecture is preferred but not required

Pay range:

$278,500.00 - $417,500.00
