About the Job
The Red Hat UXD team is looking for a Senior User Experience (UX) Designer to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you’ll tackle complex problems and transform them into intuitive, user-centered experiences across our enterprise product portfolio. You’ll work closely with designers, researchers, engineers, and product managers to create thoughtful solutions for highly technical users working in domains like cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and enterprise IT.
What You Will Do
Design end-to-end user experiences across various interfaces, from discovery and configuration to onboarding and support
Collaborate closely with researchers, designers, developers, and product managers
Translate complex technical workflows into simplified, intuitive interactions
Create user journeys, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to communicate design intent
Build strong relationships with cross-functional partners to drive aligned outcomes
Identify usability issues and recommend actionable design improvements
Engage with and contribute to PatternFly, Red Hat’s open design system
Offer feedback and mentorship to fellow designers
Advocate for users and design quality throughout the product development lifecycle
What You Will Bring
5+ years of experience designing user experiences for applications, especially for technical or enterprise audiences
Skilled in designing user interfaces for diverse platforms, including GUIs, CLIs, APIs, and configuration workflows.
Proven ability to design for technical users (e.g., developers, sysadmins, platform engineers)
Strong technical acumen and ability to quickly grasp and simplify complex domains
Systems-level thinking: ability to design cohesive experiences across multiple interaction points
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to clearly present and defend design decisions
Comfort using qualitative and quantitative data to inform design direction
A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design process and problem-solving in technical contexts
Nice to Have
Experience designing for highly technical domains such as cloud, infrastructure, security, or automation
Familiarity with open source communities and development practices
Background working in agile teams and contributing to iterative development cycles
Demonstrated success leading design efforts and delivering high-quality results on schedule
Experience improving developer workflows or simplifying configuration-based systems
The salary range for this position is $111,260.00 - $183,580.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.
