For a(1) work with our EMS partners to assess and develop assembly processes for emerging technologies,
This position will require the candidate to have a in depth knowledge in SMT and through hole assembly, rework of these devices, soldering materials (including low temperature solder alloys), large body BGA assembly processes, mechanical assembly of PCBA’s into chassis.
(2) work with Cisco Design teams on DFM issues. Responsibilities include: Pb free test vehicle design, validation. Process development on mixed technology (SnPb and Pb free) assembly. Process development on new components, connectors with unique interconnect structures. Failure analysis support and risk assessment on PCBA with assembly related issues. Acts as a senior technical contributor.
Experience in high complexity PCB assembly processes (SMT, Wave, backplane) required. Detailed understanding of PCBA related industry standards, specifications and test methods. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong leadership and teamwork skills. Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional programs and supplier management. Good understanding on component packaging and PCB technologies are desirable. Technical depth in the areas of materials science including metallurgy and polymer (processing and properties) would also be beneficial.
Skills Required:
- Typically requires BSME (MSME preferred) or equivalent experience plus 8 - 10 years relevant manufacturing experience (production floor experience an advantage).
- International travel is required, 15 – 30%.
- Able to apply in-depth technical knowledge to non-standard situations to accomplish advanced troubleshooting on new or old problems.
- In-depth understanding of tools, techniques and manufacturing practices and resource relationships.
- Uses outside contacts to develop understanding of state-of-the-art applications.
- Able to accomplish root cause analysis and resolve problems on a conceptual and advanced troubleshooting level.
- Knowledge of system integration and mechanical an advantage.
