Job Description

Bring energy, knowledge, innovation and influence to carry out the following:

• Accurately complete assigned analytical tests, examinations and procedures for Food Diagnostic and Genomics Laboratory
• Diligently complete all necessary quality records
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment by performing tasks in an organised and consistent fashion
• Maintain instrumentation and operate corrective actions if needed.
• Sample collection, equipment calibration, solution preparation, stock control and general maintenance while conducting analytical testing methods
• Program and operate robotic and automated lab equipment in high-throughput deadline environment (FxP biomek, I7 biomek, GeneTitan, Apricot)
• Troubleshoot process problems and record key information to aid in future analysis
• Training of new personnel
• Take part in review and development of SOPs
• Knowledge of molecular biology: DNA extraction, qPCR.
• Utilize and operate LIMS, multiple proprietary databases, and specialized software and apps
• Be proactive and discuss possible improvements
• Ability of working independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to time manage/complete several different tasks simultaneously.
• Performing such other technical duties as may be assigned by theLaboratory Manageror Deputy Laboratory Manager
• Participate in such further training as stipulated by theLaboratory Manageror Deputy Laboratory Manager
• Adhere to Health and Safety policy
• Adhere to ISO 9001/17025 requirements.

In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have

• Honors Degree (Level 8) in Science or Equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a laboratory setting.
• DNA extractions and processing, PCR experience.
• Proficient in MS Office with strong MS Excel skills and strong computer skills; ability to learn complex software.
• Demonstrated ability to operate complex analytical laboratory equipment.
