About the job
As a Layout Designer, you will work in a collaborative environment to develop high-performance analog and mixed-signal IC layouts. This role offers the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers, use advanced layout tools, and contribute to the entire IC design process, from floor planning to final verification and tape-out.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Creating, optimizing, and verifying analog and mixed-signal IC layouts using CAD tools.
• Ensuring compliance with Design Rule Checks (DRC), Electrical Rule Checks (ERC), and Layout vs. Schematic (LVS) verification.
• Writing layout specifications, checking dimensions, and verifying final designs.
• Collaborating with design, packaging, and process engineers to optimize IC layout for performance, power, and reliability.
• Participating in layout design reviews and applying feedback to improve designs.
• Automating layout flows and optimizing processes for efficiency and accuracy.
• Debugging layout tools, parasitic analysis, and electromigration (EM) constraints.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Electronic Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field OR a program certificate in Advanced IC Mask Layout Design.
• Minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with Unix/Linux environments and Cadence Virtuoso, Assura LVS, DRC, or similar mixed-signal EDA tools (Mentor, Synopsys).
• Familiarity with semiconductor device physics, analog circuit sensitivities, and IC manufacturing processes.
• Working knowledge of electrical circuits (resistance, capacitance, voltage, and current).
• Basic programming experience in Python, Perl, C, or Cadence SKILL to automate layout tasks.
• Understanding of parasitic effects, routing impedances, electromigration, and crosstalk.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively across functions.
• Interest in learning and mastering layout methodologies for career growth.
