- Consults with Sourcing and transportation operations team to develop a standardized RFP documentation process for each mode
- Problem solving requires hypothetical thinking to determine best solutions for complex problems. Utilizes resources across work areas and departments to create solutions. Most complex problem solving may require in-depth interpretation and analysis for significantly different situations.
- Decisions impact one area of the organization and occasionally may impact multiple areas
- Has responsibility for establishing and enforcing multiple concepts relative to the logistics function. Working tasks might include:
- Be a SME on sourcing RFP platform – Build and analyze RFP.
- Provide insights to sourcing managers (SM) on key market trends to assist in their supplier negotiations.
- Support SM in strategy development data collection.
- Develops systems to support sourcing information needs.
- Develop relationship with parcel, international freight and drayage suppliers.
- Lead supplier negotiations and contract management for parcel carriers, Rail car leases, customs brokers.
- Develop BI reports that include supplier spend, price per mode trend, market intelligence reporting.
- Validate and publish cost vs market trend.
- Support Sourcing tasks like PO creation, Supplier updates, NDA execution and overall contract administration (internally and externally).
- Drives/ensures compliance of corporate sourcing policies and procedures.
- Ensures local issues are incorporated into corporate sourcing plans, taking local goals and investments into consideration.
- Manages major claims against suppliers.
- Develop a tracking mechanism of cost-saving programs and/or opportunities.
- Incumbent typically communicates with managers, functional leaders, area/business leaders, department heads, and direct subordinates. May interact with external clients.

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Three (3) years oftransportation/logisticsor similar sourcing experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Master’s degree in engineering or management from an accredited institution
- Five (5) years of Sourcing in a private, public, government or military environment
- Excellent verbal and written communications.
- Strong program management, Analytical and problem-solving skills and collaboration across teams, functions and organization.
Work location:
- Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood at least 3-4 days per week)
