A Consumer Retail & Healthcare Underwriter in Corporate Developed Markets covers large and complex relationships within North America (NAM), being responsible for all underwriting activities in partnership with Corporate Banking and Risk. This role reports directly to Head of Consumer Retail & Healthcare Underwriting in ICM-UW Corporate Developed Markets.
Responsibilities:
- Executes, aligned with global and regional strategies, all responsibilities regarding underwriting, including, but not limited to:
- Heading the NAM portfolio and managing the staffing and consistency of the underwriting for the team
- Adoption of leading practices in credit analysis, underwriting, and monitoring, including the end-to-end underwriting process, from early origination discussions to development of credit approval memos and senior approval forums
- Ensure Credit Approval Memo (CAM) packages are complete and accurate.
- Conduct detailed reviews of financial data, projection modeling, stress testing, and other in-depth analysis performed by junior resources.
- Facilitate relationships with key clients in Banking and Risk, along with key regulators, Internal Audit, Banking & International Credit Risk and other control functions.
- Review and address issues associated with the allocation of risk assets and risk capital in partnership with banking and product organizations.
- Support the ICM Underwriting Global Head of Corporate Developed Markets on strategic initiatives/projects.
- Support VOE initiatives

Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relationship banking or credit risk/risk-related work experience in banking/financial institutions
- Experience in effectively engaging with internal control functions including Internal Audit and Fundamental Credit Risk.
- Experience in and exposure to global credit risk management standards
- Knowledge in understand capital markets products and complex financing and product structures.
- Experience in providing strategic insights and strong sensitivity to macro and regulatory issues, and impact of such issues on the various Risk families, including operational and franchise risks.
