Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support product managers and engineers within development teams by providing integrated legal review of new products and new product features, including for compliance with regulatory (e.g., AI, privacy and security) and third-party licensing requirements
  • Embed with product development teams to support all aspects of engineering development throughout the entire product life cycle
  • Act as a primary point of contact within the Products, IP and Procurement legal team for cybersecurity related activities
  • Maintain authoritative knowledge of Juniper’s cybersecurity policies and review procedures
  • Coordinate with the AI, privacy, security, IP, trade compliance and other members of the legal department to translate risk management requirements into the product development process
  • Support product end of life and end of service issues
  • Monitor global regulations that affect product introductions and work with product design teams during early phase of the product life cycle to ensure compliance by design

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • JD degree or equivalent. Admission to the State of California Bar or other states
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a product attorney; relevant in-house experience within a large, complex organization or high-tech corporate environment
  • Experienced in embedding inside R&D teams and providing early risk management guidance and advice
  • Familiarity with product-related regulatory compliance requirements such as export control, intellectual property, privacy, standards, cybersecurity and customized go-to-market terms
  • Proven expertise in advising business clients regarding cybersecurity legal issues, and a dedication to developing solutions for business clients
  • Understanding of legal issues within commercial contracts and working cross-functionally with different teams within and outside of legal.

  • Capacity to think analytically and strategically to identify issues early on at the first line of defense and to develop long-term solutions
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to take the legal lead on a project, juggle and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to facilitate mutual understanding between the business side and the legal department
  • Technically inclined and technology savvy with some level of technical background, including experience with software products for engineering applications and exposure to end of life or end of service issues. Strong business acumen, organizational skills, and attention to detail/accuracy
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization; exceptional consultative skills
  • Ability to thrive in a high-functioning, fast-paced environment
  • Trustworthy, collegial, cooperative, authentic, transparent
  • Knowledge about interactions with regulatory and standard setting bodies
  • A technical degree in science or engineering is preferred
  • Prior experience as a commercial attorney is preferred

Minimum Salary: $172,000.00

Maximum Salary:$247,250.00

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $172,000.00 and $247,250.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
