Job Description

As an apprentice, you will be exposed to both industry training and academic study, including theory and practical elements. You will have the chance to work in our laboratory where tasks align with the course curriculum. The role requires adherence to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) guidelines at all times.

As an Apprentice Technician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing assigned analytical testing with accuracy and complying with established procedures and specifications.
  • Ensuring compliance with GMP and EHS guidelines at all times.
  • Assisting laboratory personnel with housekeeping activities and consumable stock management.
  • Conducting basic routine instrument calibrations and maintenance checks.
  • Carrying out environmental monitoring and water sampling activities.
  • Planning and organizing sample shipments in coordination with supply chain and external laboratories.
  • Ensuring adherence to all current regulatory data integrity (ALCOA) requirements.
  • Reporting any discrepancies, deviations, or non-conformance in testing and supporting investigations as required.
  • Assisting with laboratory audit preparation activities when necessary.
  • Supporting activities and projects within the Quality Laboratories as required.
  • Ensuring the highest quality and compliance standards are met.
  • Documenting work in compliance with GMP standards.
  • Coordinating and implementing Continuous Improvement and MPS (Manufacturing Process Systems) initiatives.
  • Participating in problem-solving activities to identify the root cause of issues.
  • Supporting Data Integrity and Technology Enabled Labs initiatives.
  • Complying with 6S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) standards.
  • Utilizing a continuous improvement mindset and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participating in coaching and training programs to develop technical and professional skills.

Qualifications and Experience:

To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum Grade B3/O3 in PASS Maths and a minimum Grade D/O6 in four other subjects in the Leaving Certificate Exam, or an approved equivalent. (Three years' work experience in a relevant designated industrial activity may be considered for mature students over the age of 23.)
  • Aptitude Testing at the required level.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer programs such as MS Word and Excel.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good understanding of quality and attention to detail.
