What to Expect

The Vehicle Yard Coordinator ensures the smooth operation of various channels in a fast-paced environment at our Port of Melbourne site. You will coordinate personnel and processes to achieve effective goods distribution. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate inventory locations, managing vehicle movements within agreed time frames, coordinating with the PDI warehouse, and balancing costs and service for all stakeholders. This role requires being on your feet and working outdoors in all weather conditions for a significant portion of each day and may involve working additional hours when required. You will also be responsible for communicating with multiple departments and third parties while managing a large volume of vehicles on site.

What You’ll Do
  • Driving vehicles to specific locations within the yard
  • Act as a dedicated point of contact for logistic activities in Port of Melbourne to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure premises, assets and communications are used effectively- emphasis on yard layout/mapping
  • Ensure Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), First Aid and other safety documentation and equipment is relevant and up to date, in consultation with the EHS team
  • Maintain roster of Yard Drivers based on vessel schedules
  • Work closely with 2PL and 3PL vendors, coordinating and monitoring Tesla Port operations
  • Monitor, record, and report damage claims
  • Problem solve and be able to escalate priority issues
  • Work closely with the Tesla Logistics team (on site and remotely) to plan and track the shipment of vehicles
  • Develop collaborative relationships and communicate relevant information across all levels of the organisation and 3PL partners
  • Work within a Transport Management System to book vehicle transport and maintain data integrity when necessary
  • Provide back up to other logistics roles within the region- inc. Finished Vehicle Logistics Analyst role
  • Ensure the warehouse and yard are maintained, kept clean and organised, and coordinate with various organisations for any works on the site.
What You’ll Bring
  • Must hold a full local Driver Licence with an excellent and safe driving history
  • Administrative and automotive experience preferred
  • Computer/mobile phone-savvy with an ability to work with in-house logistics software(s)
  • Be able to work under high pressure and during demanding periods
  • Ability to work with little supervision but within a team environment
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • First Aid training would be advantageous but not essential
  • Good physical fitness- large amount of walking required, for a large portion of each day, in all weather conditions.
