Uniformed Security Officer
As an Uniformed Security Officer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Monitor, operate, interpret, and interact with multiple security technical tools to detect threats and risks to 3M’s personnel, assets, and reputation globally.
- Manage incidents and emergency situations, including the execution of procedures, coordination of resources, and on-scene response
- Monitor and evaluate global geopolitical issues that could affect business operations or the security of personnel and assets, including terrorism, violent crime, natural disasters, travel issues, criminal trends, civil unrest, and workplace violence
- Assist in maintaining, populating, and evaluating intelligence databases and sources
- Conduct regular monitoring of online open source intelligence, social media platforms, the darkweb, and vendor tools for known and potential threats to 3M locations, employees, travelers, or assets and emerging incidents
- Provide professional and effective customer service to global internal and external customers
- Perform campus and building security patrols
- Complete incident and activity reports in a clear and concise manner
- Complete training for basic First Aid/CPR and AED
- Provide escorts to employees and visitors, as necessary
- Carry out all job duties and responsibilities in compliance with corporate policies and departmental procedures and standards
- Perform other related duties, as required
This position requires driving a company vehicle, which will require pre-employment and ongoing review of motor vehicle history for candidates who are offered and hired for this position
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Two (2) years of experience in a security-related role in a private, public, government or military environment and/or Supervisory experience in a private, public or military environment
- Current, valid Driver’s License.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution
- Experience in a GSOC environment
- Advanced security certifications
- Bilingual skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills, including ability respond in a professional and courteous manner to all requests for assistance from employees, customers, and visitors
- A current and valid driver’s license
- Meticulous attention to detail, grammar, and style
- Uses good judgment and proven ability to work with highly confidential information
- Ability to lift and carry at least 35 pounds of emergency equipment
- Flexibility and ability to work all shifts (24/7 operations), willingness to work overtime, as needed
- Strong computer and security technology skills and comfortable with a changing high-tech work environment
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills; a great degree of emotional intelligence and maturity
- A strong team player with the ability to work independently, as needed
- A quick learner with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to build successful internal and external relationships and networks across cultures and industries
