Career Accelerator Program - Analog Design Engineer (Radar mmWave Design) - MS/PhD
United States
Job Description

In your first year with TI, you will participate in the Career Accelerator Program (CAP), which provides professional and technical training and resources to accelerate your ramp into TI and set you up for long-term career success. Within this program, we also offer function-specific technical training and on-the-job learning opportunities that will encourage you to solve problems through a variety of hands-on, meaningful experiences from your very first day on the job.

As an mmWave Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Design and develop a wide range of circuits and passives (LNAs, PAs, VCOs, Mixers, Couplers, Combiners/Splitters etc.) for different radar applications in the automotive and industrial markets and verify performance using electromagnetic simulations.
  • Collaborate with the package design team to co-design mmWave transitions to improve performance metrics such as noise figure, output power, isolation, and mitigate co-existence phenomena.
  • Collaborate with systems and firmware teams on FW algorithms for calibrations and self-test to optimize front-end performance.
  • Work closely with systems, applications & marketing teams to arrive at mmWave module specifications for the targeted application space.
  • Write in-depth technical documents and present design reviews to the engineering teams as well as publish and patent IPs, as appropriate.
  • Drive test methodology and collaborate with characterization & product engineering teams to enable product validation and production ramp.
  • Research performance analysis for next generation product definition and develop IC designs that meet the needs of emerging applications.

The open position is for an mmWave Design Engineer for Radar Devices.

As part of the front-end IC design team, you will be tasked with the design of various mmWave sub-systems, including but not limited to: power amplifiers, LNA/mixers, LO distribution chains, as well as phase shifters and modulators. In this role you will have the opportunity to thrive in a fast paced, innovative and dynamic environment. With a direct hand in creating our next-generation radar sensors, your contributions will further propel TI’s leadership position in this space.

Minimum requirements:

  • Masters or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or, Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field
  • Cumulative 3.0/4.0 GPA or higher

Preferred qualifications:

  • Masters or Ph.D. in Electrical engineering with a strong focus in the area of mmWave circuit design and testing
  • Strong fundamentals in mmWave transistor performance analysis, link budget analysis, RF matching techniques/S-parameters, noise analysis, stability analysis, phase shifting and linearization techniques.
  • Proficiency in the use of electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, Helic, EMX, or similar
  • Experience in deep-submicron IC design, especially as it pertains to analog/mixed-signal circuitry (e.g. ADCs, DACs, IF amplifiers) is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in design tools (Cadence Virtuoso, Maestro, LayoutXL) and scripting to automate tasks.
  • Proficiency in using RF/mmWave lab measurement equipment such as spectrum analyzers, PNAs, power meters, signal generators, etc.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to present convincingly and articulate clearly to a very knowledgeable audience.
  • Ability to interact well with team members and work on common goals.
