The role will report to a Vice President in the London team responsible for managing UK regulatory relationships. The team manages day-to-day dialogue with UK regulators, related engagements and regulatory responses. The team coordinates initiatives across UK and other EMEA locations, firmwide functions and lines of business as required.
The role will require the individual to support the UK regulatory management team in the management of UK regulator interactions, including
Supporting with the coordination of regulatory meetings, other engagements and regulatory requests, obtaining information and documentation across relevant businesses and functions.
Maintaining the firm’s system of record for managing regulatory engagements, and participating or leading on quality control work and other process improvement initiatives as necessary.
Assistance with the collation of management briefings on regulatory topics and priorities.
Contribution and production of management information and pieces of analysis on specific regulatory themes as required.
Developing a good awareness of regulatory interactions in the region and support other team members in their interactions and relationship management with all relevant regulators, including ensuring tracking of regulatory deadlines across all UK regulators.
Developing a good understanding of regulatory priorities across the region and globally; and supporting management in the identification and proactive management of emerging risks, themes and requirements.
The role will at times require supporting an exam manager in the management of regulatory examinations and internal stakeholder groups which will include:
Building and maintaining strong working relationships across the Regulatory Strategy team;
Supporting the coordination of examinations covering various businesses, functions and topics, including operations, finance, regulatory reporting, and sales and trading through the entire lifecycle of an exam. This includes management of requests for information, setting up regulatory meetings as well as internal preparatory sessions;
Overseeing the schedule of meetings that J.P. Morgan has with the relevant regulators and keeping comprehensive records of meetings / agreed actions / deliverables;
Overseeing the delivery of information to the relevant regulator in a timely manner and tracking deliverables / requests for information. Reviewing the quality of regulatory submissions, working with internal subject matter experts and taking action where necessary; and
Providing timely and relevant MI and updates on engagements to key internal stakeholders, including senior management.
Skillset/ Experience Desired:
Minimum BSc/ BA or similar degree and 3-6 years of experience in financial services or related field. Strong general business and/ or operational, technical or financial awareness expected.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, leadership and communication (oral and written) skills.
Client service skills – the candidate must demonstrate the judgment and ability to closely partner with and advise managers and other stakeholders on regulatory interactions.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, solid judgment, and the ability to evaluate complex regulatory business issues.
Project management skills and ability to manage multiple work streams involving different partners and groups.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, including by demonstrating excellent time management and planning skills, along with the ability to handle multiple assignments at the same time.
Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and ability to manipulate, synthesise and present information.
