What to Expect A Tesla Facilities Commissioning Project Manager will have the opportunity to drive the start-up and commissioning of Mechanical, Chemical, and Electrical systems at new capital projects to a world-class level of quality and execution. You will work closely with design, construction, facilities and other end users to continuously develop and improve the process and procedures needed to commission these state-of-the-art systems into operation and ensure they perform as designed to meet the end user’s needs.
What You’ll Do - Interface with manufacturing, technical program and engineering managers to understand upcoming scopes and communicate to the commissioning teams of deadlines and requirements
- Responsible for manpower planning, budget management and progress reporting on shop related scopes
- Develop, publish, utilize, and make continuous improvements to system inspection checklists, ensuring that lessons learned are clearly captured and checked throughout the design, construction, commissioning and start-up processes
- Champion and observe all safety policies during the execution of required tasks. Must be capable of identifying hazards in testing, start-up and operation of various mechanical, chemical, and electrical systems
- Implementing engineering and operational controls to address these hazards combined with clear communication of risks and mitigating actions to all affected parties is a requirement for this role
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert on systems and processes, where you are accountable for completing the start-up, Commissioning, and handover of those systems on multiple jobsites. Participate and provide engineering and constructability feedback in design reviews of capital projects relevant to commissioning needs
- Understand and implement Sequence of Operation (SOO) testing on mechanical, process and electrical systems. Develop and drive execution of detailed Commissioning plans and Integrated System Test (IST) plans
What You’ll Bring - Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum 6 years commissioning experience in oil and gas, pharmaceutical, or similar large capital projects
- Understanding of construction, programming, and operation of Building Management Systems and/or SCADA systems. Experience with PLC programming, Siemens PLC/TIA, or Ignition a plus. Proficiency with Completion Management Systems (CxAlloy, Pims, WinPCS, Orbit, Hexagon or equivalent) is a plus
- Detailed understanding of how Commercial/Industrial mechanical or chemical systems are designed, constructed, and operated in manufacturing and R&D facilities. Systems include: Dust Collectors, Heat Exchangers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Boilers, Pumps, Air Handling Units, Terminal Units, Fans / Blowers, Pumps, DOAS Units, Control Valves and Instrumentation, Hazardous Exhaust, Dehumidification Units, Heat Recovery Systems, Air Compressors/Dryers
- Perform or assist with effective Quality Control inspections of mechanical equipment, materials, and controls, installations at appropriate times to limit rework or risk to the system components, as well as driving the quality of the completed work to meet the highest standards of workmanship
- Develop and maintain skills necessary to operate, and collect accurate data from, diagnostic tools related to mechanical systems that enables collection of meaningful data for engineering analysis and Commissioning validation of how the mechanical systems operate. This includes all instruments utilized for TAB (Test and Balance) of dry and wet mechanical systems, thermal imaging, and sonic analyzers
- Develop knowledge of related basic engineering design principles, applicable design guides and standards. Develop knowledge of relevant building codes and standards
