Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead health economics data assessments working with divisional staff and key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Utilize knowledge of available data assets (e.g. Medicare claims data, CMS payment information, etc.) to identify research opportunities and define/execute analyses in support of business unit objectives.
  • Identify key health economics data needs for emerging BSC platform products working with health economics colleagues to determine actions required.
  • Deliver messaging based on manipulating and interpreting health economic data
  • Monitor and assess health policy updates impacting the business’ emerging technologies and commercially marketed products. Develop related communications to inform senior management.
  • Recommend, select, maintain, and update health economic and reimbursement resources for the EP business unit, including coding guides and reimbursement calculators.
  • Develop and promote analytical best practices within and across product franchises. Research and apply new techniques for advanced analyses, create, monitor, review, and improve methods and techniques continuously.
  • Develop and deliver educational content on health policy, reimbursement, and documentation topics for HEMA colleagues, cross-functional colleagues, and sales team representatives.
  • Support HEMA Analyst colleagues in reviewing customer inquiries and assisting with responses as needed.
  • Conduct analytics to support Senior HEMA team members and global HEMA partners in development of market access assessments, health economic and clinical strategy to facilitate global reimbursement and funding, and influence EP Franchise plans.
  • Provide appropriate in-service training to increase awareness and understanding of health economics and reimbursement opportunities in supporting a product’s success.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to inform strategic activities related to health economic research, health policy and business development.
  • Serve in the review and analysis of annual CMS rulemaking for IPPS, OPPS, ASC and PFS. Collaborate with HEMA Analysts to prepare internal and external communications. Collaborate with Corporate HEMA team to develop comments in response to topics of importance to the EP business with strategic guidance from HEMA Directors to positively influence our business.
  • Maintain proficiency in current and evolving health policy topics (e.g. VBP, MIPS, TCET, Telehealth, AI) to inform HEMA strategies and landscape assessments, especially for emerging markets.
  • Successful candidates will have excellent technical expertise in the areas of health policy, facility and physician reimbursement.
  • Candidates will exhibit outstanding communication skills with the ability to present complex information to a broad and diverse group of stakeholders.
  • US-focused overnight travel estimated at 5-10%.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary education, preferably in a healthcare related field
  • 3+ years experience in or with the medical technology industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. healthcare systems including health policy trends, payment systems (inpatient/outpatient/physician/ASC) and associated documentation/coding requirements
  • Ability to advance initiatives independently and in a fast-paced matrix environment with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge and understanding of the healthcare industry and healthcare systems
  • Understanding of hospital financial systems and management practices
  • Analytical experience utilizing large data sets to draw conclusions about market size, targeting, opportunity assessment
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information
  • Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities, manage multiple projects
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite)

Preferred qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in health policy, health economics, healthcare administration, health services research, public health or similar discipline is highly desired.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including developing relationships at all levels in an organization and directly influencing business objectives.
  • Knowledge of CPT codes, relative value units (RVUs), HCPCS codes, Ambulatory Payment Categories (APCs), ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes, and MS-DRGs
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular coding and documentation
  • Experience answering health economic questions using large datasets
  • Ability to present complex health economic information to influential groups in understandable, credible, and engaging ways.
  • Experience working as part of both functional and cross-functional teams.
  • Customer-facing experience (i.e., customer service, complaint handling, etc.)
  • Strategic thinking
