Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop Point-of- Care ultrasound system/sub-system requirements, architecture/system design and analysis, risk analysis, integration plan and testing and manufacturing testing definition.
  • Apply expertise to help resolve urgent issues with current Point-of- Care products.
  • Lead the design team in the development of verification and validation planning and execution
  • Work with contractors on sub-system components to ensure project timeline and implementation per specifications
  • Own and help develop technologies that support competitive technical differentiation
  • Decision making in cross-disciplinary and architectural aspects.
  • Assist Program Manager in execution of projects within time and schedule.
  • Manage Documentation according to Quality Management System process.

Required Qualifications

  • B.Sc. degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering, M.Sc. is a plus
  • Broad exposure to Mechanical/ Control/ HW/SW/Systems design, and technical depth in one or more engineering disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Software etc.)
  • At least 5 years of relevant systems engineering work experience in projects involving design and development of complex systems.
  • Experience as a technical leader of engineering teams,
  • Experience in medical systems – an advantage.
  • Hands on Experience with electronic board design, MFG and reliability testing- an advantage.
  • Proven ability to develop timely and effective solutions for challenging design problems.
  • Proficient in use of software tools for analysis and simulation (MATLAB, etc.) - an advantage
