BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

DESCRIPTION

Key job responsibilities
In this role you will be responsible for:* Serving as an AWS subject matter expert in Sustainability and Carbon
* Developing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies to ensure AWS has an accurate and credible method for measuring carbon footprint and future reductions
* Developing internal LCA models for AWS infrastructure and services including mechanical and electrical systems and server hardware
* Conducting LCAs including research, data collection, modeling, data analysis, data visualization, and reporting to quantify environmental impacts of our data centers and cloud computing services
* Developing reports, dashboards and metrics which distill complex data into actionable insights to inform AWS net zero carbon strategy
* Building and developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive programs to completion

Each day you will interact with different teams responsible for all aspects of hardware and data centers. Your work will span the life cycle of our operations and allow you to influence how we develop and implement sustainability practices. You will have the opportunity to work on projects locally and globally.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Advanced degrees (PhD) in data analysis, engineering discipline, and/or sustainability focused field.
- 5+ years of work experience and subject matter expertise in developing parameterized process-based LCA models for engineering and/or manufacturing processes
- Solid understanding of the electronics industry, including the specific challenges related to products and its supply chain and their impacts on carbon footprint
- Knowledge of leading standards for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Product Category Rules (PCR) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) including ISO 14000 family
- Knowledge of LCA databases (Ecoinvent, GaBi, SimaPro, imec, and/or GREET)
- Knowledge of basic data analytics of scripting languages (Python, R, or similar); experience with AWS features (S3, Redshift) is a plus.
