Key job responsibilities
You will need to drive clarity in highly ambiguous technical environments, have the technical depth to guide and coach developers, and demonstrate excellent project management and communication skills to be successful in this role. You will own defining, measuring and reporting on key performance and operational metrics. In this role you will work closely with engineers, product managers, UX designers, and leadership stakeholders to design and architect products and technical solutions that drive forward our vision to ensure delightful and equitable experiences for all our customers.This position involves some on-call responsibilities, typically when the team requires additional support. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice. We have a on boarding process to ensure a gradual and supportive transition into going on call.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 6+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 3+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
