About the Role

To be the SME and perform Product Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs)

Key Responsponabilities

  • Be the technical expert on LCA
  • Ensures compliance to all relevant LCA standards and guidelines
  • Navigating LCA software
  • Performs LCAs for divisions and business units by obtaining the data from those units and loading into software, assigning environmental impacts, and writing reports
  • Work with the divisional product stewardship to under priorities and cadence
  • Interact with divisional and site engineering teams, global or divisional Material SMEs
  • Ensures compliance to all relevant LCA standards and guidelines
  • Write LCAs for 3rd party verification / critical review
  • Develop workflows to scale LCA data collection and report writing for dozens of different technologies across thousands of green projects around the world
  • Be the liaison for 3rd party verification vendors and serve as the internal expert 3rd party LCA reports written for our customers
  • Mentor teams and disperse knowledge throughout the company about LCA best practices
  • Offers training to divisional teams so they can understand LCA methodologies and findings
  • Provides actionable insights and recommendations to help the business improve its environmental product performance

Required qualification and competencies

  • 3+ years experience completing and submitting ISO-compliant LCAs, preferably medical device, pharma, bio, or similar industry that makes products that use plastics, metals
  • 3+ years experience with Ecoinvent or similar environmental impact database
  • Deep knowledge of emissions factor databases and a strong intuition of how to select appropriate emissions factors given the context of project
  • Familiarity with LCA software like Mobius, openLCA, GaBi, Sphera, SimaPro, or equivalent
  • BS/MS in a technical field or relevant training + experience
  • Passion for environmental sustainability and working in a new, growing space within company
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Able to work independently, with demonstratable ability of innovation and problem solving
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English to demonstrate effective communication with technical teams
