Strategic Direction:

• Work with head of ESG and alts investment teams to set ESG objectives for each strategy
• Participate in investment committee meetings and provide subject matter expertise on ESG risks and opportunities in real asset space

Internal/ External Liaising:

• Be a resource to head of ESG and head of Alts to represent our alts ESG work within industry (e.g., conferences, PRI working groups, GRESB benchmark committee)
• Be the point of contact for ESG consultant(s), engage with key partners, property managers and borrowers
• Support client relations/ marketing team with ESG materials (e.g., slides, speaking notes, participate in client meetings)

Training:

• Train Alts investment teams on objectives, ESG trends, expectations, and resources
• Train third-party borrowers and managers on TDAM's requirements and best practices

Data, Analysis and Reporting:

• Develop and implement ESG tools to support the investment team's analysis of ESG factors pre and post investment
• Monitor ESG performance and analyse portfolio information
• Coordinate and fulfill any internal and external ESG compliance requirements of RPG group
• Review and improve existing policies & procedures
• Monitor Industry-wide and asset class specific ESG trends ensuring that TDAM Alts remain best in class in our practices.
• Prepare alts input for external reports (e.g., AIR, GRESB, PRI, bulletins, TDAM SI and TCFD Report)
• Stay up to date on market trends and ESG-specific issues

Canadian Real Estate Specific:

• Manage data survey and run analysis
• Manage GRESB submission
• Engage with managers to improve ESG integration and performance
• Review and improve policies & procedures
• Review and improve Due Diligence checklists (both IPP and development)

International Real Estate Specific:

• Manage data survey and run analysis
• Review GRESB submissions of fund managers
• Engage with fund managers to improve ESG integration and performance

Global Infrastructure Specific:

• Manage data survey and run analysis
• Manage GRESB submission
• Engage with management companies to improve ESG integration and performance
• Review and improve policies & procedures
• Review and improve Due Diligence checklist

Canadian Mortgages Specific:

• Improve borrower surveys and data management processes
• Manage submissions to the UNPRI, GRESB, and other survey/monitoring agencies.
• Support the implementation and management of Green + financing program
• Review and improve policies & procedures
• Review and improve Due Diligence checklist

Required Experience, Qualifications and Skills:

• 5-7 years of professional experience in sustainability/ESG in real estate and/or infrastructure investment field. Canadian work experience is a must with any global experience considered an advantage.
• Graduate/undergraduatedegree related to sustainability or certifications such as CFA in ESG investing and/or climate investing will be considered a plus.
• Excellent communications, presentation skills and analytical abilities
• Strong ability to bring various teams/stakeholders together, high EQ, collaborative skills, team player driving towards common business objectives.
• Occasional travel will be required.
