We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Business Analyst to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in understanding and gathering client requirements, documenting business needs, and contributing to the creation of data solutions, specifically around data lineage, data profiling, and data mart buildouts. This role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of data workflows, and an ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders. Experience with technical programming knowledge is a plus.

Full-time employment, 45 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Client Requirements Gathering & Documentation: Work directly with business clients and stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements pertaining to data risk and controls. Translate business needs into clear, actionable design specifications
• Design Documentation: Create detailed functional and technical design documents, including use cases, data flow diagrams, and business process models, ensuring alignment with project goals and client needs
• Data Lineage & Data Profiling: As part of risk assessments, analyze and document data lineage across multiple systems to track data movement, transformations, and data quality. Conduct comprehensive data profiling to understand data quality, completeness, and accuracy, identifying potential issues and opportunities for optimization
• Data Mart Buildouts: Contribute to the development and enhancement of data marts by working closely with data architects and developers to manage data migration risk aspects. Participate in identifying data requirements, modeling, and integration tasks
• Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements in data handling, reporting, and analytics to enhance business outcomes.
• Stakeholder Management: Interacting and developing relationships with clients’ top executives and our firm’s leadership.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or in a similar role focused on data solutions, business requirements gathering, and documentation
• Data Lineage & Data Profiling Expertise: Strong understanding of data lineage concepts and hands-on experience with data profiling techniques. Familiarity with data management tools and practices is required
• Data Mart & Business Intelligence: Experience in contributing to the development and optimization of data marts or similar data structures. Understanding of data warehousing concepts and tools is a plus
• Documentation Skills: Proficient in creating detailed design documents, data models, and process flow diagrams. Experience with tools like Microsoft Visio would be a plus
• Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on understanding complex business problems and translating them into actionable data solutions
• Technical Knowledge: While a technical programming background is not mandatory, familiarity with programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R, etc.) is a plus and will help in understanding data engineering workflows
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with both business and technical teams, conveying complex technical concepts in an understandable way
• Tools & Technologies: Experience with data analysis tools, business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, etc.), and databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, etc.) will be a plus.

Ideally, you’ll have

• Experience as a Business Analyst to understand client requirements and create design documents
• Proficiency with Data risk, Data lineage & Data profiling
• Knowledge of data marts
• Good grasp of SQL. Familiarity with Python, R would be considered a plus.
