As a Sr. Software Engineer in the MAC-Software organization you will own (1) delivering MAC-layer and the run-time platform features, (2) optimize performance of the MAC-Software while maintaining stability of the Kuiper payload on the satellites in the orbit and the ground systems and (3) help achieve the scale of Kuiper’s connectivity footprint to meet and exceed business KPIs (throughput, latency, packet loss etc.). You will work cross-functionally with the engineers across Systems Engineering, ASIC, hardware, networking, Payload integration and mission operations teams for designing, developing, integrating and testing MAC software features, troubleshoot issues reported from the lab and the field deployments.

Basic Qualifications

- 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 7+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- 7+ years of experience in embedded software design/development in C/C++/Rust to run on multi-core SoC processors under constrained CPU and memory environments, over Linux/RTOS/Bare-metal platforms, along with deep understanding of low-level code debugging.


Preferred Qualifications

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with developing MAC/PHY software and protocol stacks for communication systems - cellular wireless, optical fiber, satellite wireless etc.
