Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Inspects and manages roadway maintenance contracts on Florida’s Turnpike.
• Prepares and reviews work orders, progress reports, approves invoices and assists in the preparation of contract packages by providing field data.
• Planning and scheduling of activities
• Tracking, monitoring, inspecting and coordinating work tasks assigned to contractors
• Monitoring the contract balance
• Making cost decision regarding the use of Contract Services
• Documenting contractor performance
• Progress reports, reviewing roadway/roadside for short-term and long-term roadway needs
• Approving invoices and assisting in the preparation of contract packages by providing field measurements and estimating quantities
• Reviewing construction projects for maintenance needs
• Performing periodic inspection of roadway components
• Inspecting outdoor advertising permits
*Position will work out of the Pompano Beach Operations Center
• At least 3-5 years of Roadway maintenance and/or construction experience
• Ability to read and interpret roadway plans and specifications
• Ability to prepare reports both written and oral, and possess good communication skills overall.
• Experience in Civil engineering, Construction management/engineering related and/or construction experience
• Computer experience using normal business software
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
• Must have valid driver's license with no major infractions
• Ability to lift 25 pounds.
• Ability to perform duties outdoors.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
• AA Degree preferred
• Experience with Florida Department of Transportation specifications and procedures preferred
• Knowledge of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) standards an Advanced preferred
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
The work area can involve a working environment indoors, as well as, outdoors which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. Safety is of the utmost importance. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination when preparing reports and using a computer keyboard, have vision sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents and operate office equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour time period must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, wear and use appropriate safety equipment.
