In a given week, this role will likely include:
• Supporting the northwest Public Engagement & Strategic Communications team by proactively engaging with clients, their partners, elected officials, community groups, businesses, and the public, digitally and in person
• Monitoring deadlines to meet internal and external client deliverables and requests
• Leading the development of high-quality materials to support projects and their associated public processes
• Leading and supporting public engagement processes, representing projects to to the community on behalf of our clients
• Producing and staffing events, such as public meetings and open houses (some evening/weekend working may be required)
• Monitoring, responding to, and tracking stakeholder feedback, questions, and requests through various channels (email, phone, social media, etc.)
• Managing the translation of content and materials into multiple languages
• Leading tasks within large programs and balancing task needs with the goals of the overall program
• A bachelor’s or advanced Degree in communications, journalism, government relations, planning, public relations or similar discipline
• A minimum of 5 years in communications, public engagement, marketing, or public relations
• Experience working with elected officials and coordinating with federal, state, and local agencies
• Experience leading the development of tasks or deliverables
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, as well as high attention to detail
• Motivation to own the work to ensure on-time completion
• The ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team
• A willingness to embrace and grasp complex subjects quickly
• The ability to work on multiple and dynamic projects, sometimes with competing deadlines
• Fully comfortable interacting with people and actively listening to their ideas and questions
• The willingness to occasionally travel for work, as needs arise
Ideally, here’s what you’ll also have:
• Interest in the planning process and delivering communications programs for large-scale planning and infrastructure projects
• Experience in environmental planning protocols, NEPA/SEPA process, public meetings and working groups, and an interest in transportation, infrastructure, or other public projects
• Strong organizational and Office 365 Suite skills
