Your impact

You will interface with associated engineering disciplines including track, civil, traffic, communications electrical, facilities, construction managers, and architects to ensure that our signal work is integrated safely into the overall project. Clients include city and state transit agencies, freight operators, and 3rd party consultants and contractors, to deliver high quality projects.

Additional design experience includes performing interdisciplinary reviews to verify coordination with associated disciplines for each submittal package. You will participate in meetings with other design disciplines, contractors, and client staff, as well as help prepare presentations, and assist in the preparation of data for public hearings or other necessary reviews relative to our projects.

This role will also include working with construction management teams at the construction site to assist with and help lead commissioning of signal system elements for major transit agencies in the Chicago area. This role will help oversee testing, verification and validation performed by the contractor. Occasional travel for factory acceptance testing may also be required when virtual options are not available.

Here's what you'll need

• 10 years of experience with transit rail signals and communications networks/systems

• Experience with commissioning and inspection of rail transit signal systems

• Ability to be on site at the project location during commissioning activities

• Professional experience with transit/railroad signal design or performing associated signal work for a railroad

• Experience with Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) and Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD)

• Experience with or understanding of Microprocessor based signal systems design, programming, testing and implementation Simulation experience

• Knowledge and understanding Federal Rail Administration Rules and Regulations for Signal Systems and Positive Train Control systems

Ideally You'll Also Have:

• Bachelors in Electrical Engineering

• Professional Engineer's license, or ability to obtain one

• Computer Aided Design experience, MicroStation (preferred) or AutoCAD

• Experience with grade crossing warning systems control design and engineering
