A day in the life
In this role you will be responsible for establishing the process controls during the build and fabrication of solar array blanket for project Kuiper. You will need to develop innovative methods to establish high reliability connections between cells, modules, and harnessing. You will own test campaigns to validate processes are under control and repeatable. Transitioning into a production environment, you will work with manufacturing engineers to ensure there is a path to high volume, low cost, and high yield production.
- 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience with prototyping and implementation
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, material science or other related discipline, or relevant experience
- 2 + years experience designing and testing solar array modules
- 2 + years experience planning and driving test campaigns
- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
- Demonstrated ability to dive deep and solve complex nuanced problems.
- Experience with composites and composite manufacturing techniques
- Cross-organizational communication – comfortable evangelizing ideas and concerns clearly and persuasively, in both verbal and written forms.
- Demonstrated ability to engage technology developers in the industry to track and adopt emerging technologies
