Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organisation:

Support in maintaining all Global Legal standards and principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as first point of contact to local management, functions and teams for all (corporate) legal matters at adidas Porto, managing the provision of (corporate) legal services at adidas Porto in accordance with Global Legal standards and processes.

    • Where appropriate drive the management, negotiation and resolution of legal and business disputes for client groups to enable fact-based decision making at adidas Porto and other adidas locations where necessary.

    • Draft, review and negotiate a variety of contracts to protect the interests of adidas working closely with appropriate business stakeholders relating to Global Functions topics and adidas Porto as necessary

    • Act as Local Compliance Officer for adidas Porto, managing and supporting the wider compliance organization on compliance investigations.

    • Drive an ethics and compliance culture at adidas Porto and ensure all related matters are appropriately handled including all aspects of communication, education, and implementation of adidas Compliance program.

    • Effectively manage and supervise the delivery of legal advice and services through external counsel where needed.

    • Manage and support the wider (Global Legal) organization on the implementation of initiatives, processes, software tools and systems in close co-ordination with the wider Global Legal team.

    • Develop and conduct legal educational programs and materials for adidas Porto and other adidas locations as appropriate in relevant legal areas.

    • Actively participate in the team environment through mutual support and pursuit of excellence.

  • Senior Director- Legal Counsel

  • Senior Management Team and other senior members of the Area

  • All Global Legal functions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strategic thinker with confidence and speed in execution.

    • Strong background in contract law, drafting, negotiation and business counselling.

    • A strong sense and experience of legal business management and administration with an ability to make practical evaluations of risk.

    • Ability to work both independently and as a senior part of a team, and to manage and prioritize substantial and diverse workload.

    • Ability to effectively communicate complex issues in an understandable manner.

    • Proficient technical skills with experience of contract automation a benefit.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Must be fluent in English.

    • Proficiency of Portuguese is preferred.

    Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

    • Fully qualified lawyer, with local legal professional admission in good standing.

    • 5 - 8+ years of law firm or corporate counsel experience in general civil and commercial law.

    • Preferably experience with multinational companies with multi market teams.
