What to Expect

Tesla is looking for a Managing Counsel, Energy Products,based in our CA or TX offices to support the growth of our global energybusiness. Reporting to the AssistantGeneral Counsel, Energy Products, you will focus on our residential, commercial& industrial and utility-scale solar and energy storage and superchargingbusinesses in the US. You will alsoassist the business with international transactions in our core EMEA and APACmarkets and our expansion into emerging markets.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide advice on a wide variety of strategic, regulatoryand transactional matters for the Energy business in the US, includingcommercial and consumer matters
  • Structure and negotiate equipment supply, EPC, O&M,commodity, real property, interconnection, performance guarantee, warranty andother material project agreements for solar, energy storage and superchargerprojects of all sizes, support project development and mergers and acquisitionstransactions and have a good familiarity with financing-related matters
  • Review and help prepare responses to requests for proposalsand other competitive tenders
  • Support solar and energy storage transactions in our coreAPAC and EMEA markets and advise on new market entry and new product launchesfor the Energy Products business around the world
What You’ll Bring
  • Excellent academic credentials, preferably with a JurisDoctor from a top-ranked law school. A current license to practice in one ormore US jurisdictions
  • A minimum of 12 years’ practice experience at awell-regarded law firm, with in-house experience at a company in the energyindustry strongly preferred
  • Experience structuring and leading negotiation of largetransactions in energy, construction, project finance or a related practicearea, with a preference for renewable energy experience
  • A team player with the ability to proactively identifyproblems, drive projects, make complex cost/benefit assessments, and identifypragmatic/creative legal and business solutions
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively and tojuggle competing priorities in a fast-paced, challenging environment. A quickand flexible learner, intellectually curious, open-minded, adaptable,comfortable with ambiguity and risk, and excited by dynamic change
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to quicklyearn the confidence of your colleagues and effectively communicate with peopleat all levels of the organization
  • High standards, impeccable integrity and ethics,unquestionable good judgment, well-honed analytical skills, superior oral andwritten communications skills, and a keen sense of humour
