Azure Security Team is looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager. As a Principal Software Engineering Manager in Azure Security organization, you will lead your team to build highly scalable, available, and secure cloud services that protect entire Azure infrastructure. You will be responsible for the Identity, access management, secrets protection, deployment integrity services. You will be accountable for delivery of features shipped by your team, building and retaining talent. You will provide vision for the services you own, develop strategy aligning with stake holders and develop execution plans to successfully deliver team's commitments.

Your primary responsibilities include architecting, designing, coding and operationalizing security services at hyper scale that will help ensure Azure is the most secure cloud operating system in the world! Produce crisp designs with tradeoffs, present and gather stake holder consensus. Guide other engineers by following established design and coding patterns, be the bar riser. Identify and drive dependencies for given services and features. Drive architecture improvements to reduce operational burden on services and team. Improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products at scale. Crisply plan and communicate feature delivery schedule, risks.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.


Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years people management experience

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
