DESCRIPTION

As a new engineer in the team, you'll test for security issues across Amazon, and you'll build automation to help you scale your testing. As you progress, you'll take known security issues and build scopes of work that other engineers will follow during engagements, you'll create scalable automation solutions, lead customer discussions, and mentor team members. You'll take ownership of complex security challenges, working independently while collaborating with Principal Engineers and senior team members to drive security improvements across Amazon.Key job responsibilities
* Deliver security anti-pattern engagements across Amazon services, following and improving the teams’s methodology. Design test strategies for these engagements, ensuring consistent evaluation across service architectures.
* Develop and improve automation tools that scale anti-pattern detection capabilities, improving the team’s coverage and reducing manual effort.* Partner with other security teams to share knowledge and run anti-pattern engagements in collaboration.
* Identify trends that inform future team engagements.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team’s methodologies, documentation and tools.
* Maintain high quality standards and meet project timelines.Design test strategies for anti-pattern engagements, ensuring consistent evaluation across service architectures.
This role requires analytical skills, technical expertise, and the ability to communicate complex security concepts clearly. You'll work independently while collaborating with team members and stakeholders to drive security improvements at scale.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* Ability to identify and analyze security patterns across large-scale systems.
* Strong programming skills in at least one language (preferably Python or Java) with the ability to both read and write code effectively. Proficiency in reading and understanding source code across different programming languages.
* Thorough understanding of common security vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10) and their mitigations.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical findings to various audiences.
* Skill in developing and documenting clear, actionable proof-of-concept demonstrations.
* Track record of working independently and taking ownership of technical challenges.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Domain expertise in at least 1 of the following domains: security architecture and engineering, communication and network security, identity and access management (IAM), security assessment and testing, cryptography or software development security.
* Experience with Amazon web services or similar enterprise cloud computing platforms.
* Experience with serverless architectures, and common virtualization techniques (hypervisors/containers/jails) and escapes/exploits from these environments.
* Web testing experience with authentication controls, session management, access controls, logic flaws, injection vulnerabilities, request smuggling, cloud privilege escalation and DOS attacks.
* Participation in Bug Bounty programs.
* Experience writing scripts and tools to automate security testing processes.
* Experience finding security issues in code, validating them and verifying remediation effectiveness.
* Experience collaborating with development teams to implement security improvements.
