• Develop, execute, and constantly improve an owner-led fire protection design from the ground up. This program will include creation of construction documents, code compliance, design and installation standards, owners’ requirements documentation, water supply evaluation and assessment, testing, inspections, construction oversight, submittal review, and facility fire protection systems certification. The Fire Protection Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of Fire Protection Engineering and must be familiar with the work of all construction trades.
• Be responsible for providing high quality fire protection services engineering advice on designs on a wide variety of projects globally.
• Work alongside design engineering and risk management, to review concept designs and designs in progress to ensure they meet established design standards, local code requirements, and any other requirements of the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs). Develop and maintain relationships with AHJs to avoid surprises during construction.
• Review and approve general contractor’s fire protection QA/QC Plans to ensure alignment with owner’s requirements
• Provide technical support during the construction phase to ensure designs are realized
• Identify solutions through root cause analysis and execute and audit feedback/solution mechanisms to ensure design issues are fixed permanently – share that data globally across teams.
• Research proposed construction components and methods to ensure quality and customer needs. Research, document, and champion best practices of data center fire protection system design.

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, or an equivalent engineering degree in a related field with at least 2 additional years of qualifying experience.
• 5+ years of experience in the construction industry, related to all aspects of fire protection, including at least fire suppression systems, fire alarm and detection systems, fire-resistive construction, and life safety.
• Experience applying local codes, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, International Code Council (ICC) requirements, and other fire protection industry standards, procedures, and methodologies.
• Experience performing design reviews of technical submittal documents to include at a minimum: technical approaches, work plans, quality control plans, commissioning plans, inspection reports, project summary reports, training materials, and construction documents, authoring white papers, technical documentation, training materials, Code Modification Requests (CMRs), and Alternate Materials and Methods (AMM) proposals, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Navisworks, sketch up and MS Office Suite experience.
• Experience directly related to construction of data centers, critical medical, industrial, construction, oil and gas, or large-scale mechanical and power systems.
• 7+ years of experience in the construction industry, related to all aspects of fire protection, including at least fire suppression systems, fire alarm and detection systems, fire-resistive construction, and life safety.
• Licensed Fire Protection Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of ICC Codes, NFPA Standards, UL standards, and FM global requirements, including development processes and technical committee participation.
• Experience with performance-based alternatives to prescriptive fire protection design with processes of design review, specification, development of design standards, and submittal review, performing specialized construction materials or installation inspections.
