As a, you'll have the opportunity to perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of the distribution system on an assigned shift. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities. You’ll operate and maintain equipment including backhoes and excavators. Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health and well-being of you and your team.
Responsibilities:
• Perform a variety of field service duties including but not limited to: completing repairs on water lines ranging from 3/4" to 24" in size, meter inspections, maintenance, and customer service tasks related to the water distribution system
• Ability to use or be trained on computer/ tablets for job order processing
• Maintain good communication with team members and management alike
• Ability to perform well in a team setting
• Outstanding customer service capabilities
• Investigate unusual water meter readings and customer complaints regarding high water bills; investigate odd taste and odor of water being provided to residents; investigate pressure-related issues; re-read meters as necessary; resolve issues or request work orders for follow-up
• Report inoperative or damaged water meters, bypassed meters, and related problems
• Prepare service requests as necessary
• Perform other duties as required
• Ability to use hand tools proficiently, including but not limited to: pipe wrenches; poly cutters; copper cutters; channel locks; crescent wrenches
• Ability to operate excavation equipment such as back hoes and excavators, or willingness to be trained on said equipment
• Must have a positive attitude and be capable of contributing to the success of the team, as well as to your own success as an individual.
• Availability for after-hours and emergency call-outs / leak repairs
• High school diploma or G. E. D. is preferred.
• Must be 21 years of age or older to be able to drive our company vehicles and must have a clear driving record.
• Ability to perform continuous physical labor
• Ability to operate excavation equipment such as back hoes and excavators, or willingness to be trained on said equipment to repair water lines
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
