Senior Manager – Financial Services – Insurance and Actuarial Advisory Services – Transactions – Advisory: This position could be located in NY, IL, NC, FL, MA, PA, CT.

Your key responsibilities

It’s all about providing the knowledge our clients need to execute strategies and resolve complex issues. We’ll look to you to lead client engagement teams in the Transactions area of our practice, in a wide variety of projects including:

  • Reinsurance strategy
  • Offshore jurisdiction regulatory (including US, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, and other jurisdictions)
  • Reinsurance entity structuring
  • Transaction pricing support
  • Transaction asset/liability strategy and optimization
  • Cedent / reinsurer target operating model
  • Cedent / reinsurer managed services
  • Reinsurance administration
  • Financial reporting (US, Bermuda, Cayman, and other jurisdictions)
  • Mergers and Acquisitions

Skills and attributes for success

  • Lead large scale client engagements. Consistently deliver quality client services. Drive high-quality work products within expected timeframes and on budget. Monitor progress, manage risk and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes. Manage expectations of client service delivery. Stay abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to the client's business.
  • Effectively lead and motivate teams with diverse skills and backgrounds. Provide constructive on-the-job feedback/coaching to team members. Foster an innovative and inclusive team-oriented work environment. Play an active role in counselling and mentoring junior consultants within the organization.
  • Generate new business opportunities. Understand EY and its service lines and actively assess/present ways to serve clients. Develop and maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Develop relationships with team members across all EY practices to serve client needs.
  • Demonstrate deep actuarial technical capabilities and professional knowledge. Demonstrate ability to quickly assimilate new knowledge. Possess in depth business acumen. Remain current on new regulations concerning Insurance industry.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of complex actuarial concepts, discuss complex issues with the engagement team and client management, keep informed of professional standards and firm policies (e.g., Actuarial Standards of Practice), and effectively apply this knowledge to client situations.
  • Maintain a reputation as an industry expert by writing articles, taking a leadership role within industry groups, and speaking at industry events.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, and/or other related major.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience working in an actuarial-oriented position, with 3 years of increased management responsibility.
  • Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries
  • Proficiency in the use of spreadsheets and familiarity with at least one actuarial-related software, including AXIS, Prophet, ALFA or MOSES,
  • Experience designing and executing on various onshore and offshore reinsurance strategies
  • Experience pricing and structuring reinsurance arrangements
  • Strong writing, presentation, conceptual, analytical, project management, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and client-service skills
  • A proven ability to manage time while working on multiple, often shifting, projects, and the confidence to work both collaboratively and independently under pressure
  • Willingness and ability to travel to meet client needs

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Previous consulting experience
  • Familiarity with US, Bermuda and/or Cayman reinsurance market
  • Proficiency with at least one actuarial-related software, including AXIS, Prophet, or ALFA.
  • Proficiency with Python, R or other programming and actuarial related software.

What we offer
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $169,300 to $386,700. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $203,100 to $439,400. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
