Job responsibilities
- Research to find root causes for the most impactful technology production incidents
- Provides technical feedback and proposes improvements to critical architectures
- Guides evaluation of current technology and leads evaluation of new technologies using existing standards and frameworks
- Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
- Drives decisions that influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
- Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
- Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firm wide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Demonstrable influencing skills that can create a culture of change, excellence and innovation which constructively challenges the status quo and leads to prudent implementation
- Create effective partnerships, cooperating with clients, leaders across our business, and application architects to define technology and architecture roadmaps
- Possess and maintain a strong working knowledge of multi-platform technical environments. Serve as a leader, consultant, mentor, or tutor in technical architecture areas of expertise to staff
- Have a broad and deep expertise in software and infrastructure architecture or equivalent amount of time in development with a minimum of five years focused on large system development and with a good understanding of infrastructure
- Expertise in application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines, knowledge in at least one area of technical architecture
- Strategic thinking and passion for business strategy and business processes
- Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
- Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to select or recommend the best solutions for the future state architecture

- Ability to perform investigation and analysis of the firm's most critical technology flows
