Be a pioneer: You will work on cutting-edge technologies and solutions that enable customers to migrate and modernize their PostgreSQL/Oracle/other databases on Azure.Innovate: You will have the opportunity to explore new ideas, experiment with new technologies, and learn from your peers and mentors.You will be a Principal Software Engineer on the Azure PostgreSQL migration platform team. You will design, develop, test, and deploy features and enhancements that enable customers to migrate and optimize their PostgreSQL databases on Azure.  You will mentor and coach junior engineers and contribute to the team culture and best practices.Build and innovate: You will use your skills and experience in services, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Azure, and other technologies to build and improve the migration platform and related services.Collaborate: You will work closely with other engineers, product managers, and customers to deliver features and enhancements that meet their needs and expectations.Enhance customer experience: You will ensure that the migration platform is easy to use, robust, and secure, and that it provides customers with the best possible price/performance ratio.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline10+ years of software development experience using C, C++, Java or C# or an equivalent programming languageStrong technical prowess, including understanding of algorithms, systems architecture, and end-user experience.Background on end-to-end ownership of complex software systems.

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

Experience with internals of PostgreSQL or similar Enterprise Database Management system, including Storage Engine and High Availability.

As the Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:You will be responsible for building and managing and innovating in the space of database migration solutions and helping grow the PostgreSQL business at Azure.Provide mentorship and coaching to engineers and peers.Own and deliver complete features across the development lifecycle, including design, architecture, implementation, testability, debugging, shipping, and servicing.Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, advancements in service health, and identify opportunities for innovation within the field.
