Job responsibilities:- Wealth management and private banking services
- Investment solutions and product development, including alternative investments
- Retail financial services, including retail banking, investment products, and consumer lending
- Coordinate and effectively communicate with colleagues, outside tax counsel, accounting firms, and internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate tax planning, risk controls, and compliance
- Work with Corporate Tax colleagues and relevant business teams to review tax aspects of new initiatives or expansion into new markets and/or strategies
- Review current and potential tax legislation and regulations for their impact on products and services offered by JPMorgan Chase
- Participate in regular Corporate Tax Department meetings and assist in the development of policies and procedures relevant to the businesses, with attention to substantive, operational, and reputational risk considerations
- In addition to supporting JPMC’s lines of business, the candidate will serve as a general resource to the Corporate Tax Department, providing support in its role overseeing general and transactional tax planning
This position reports to a Managing Director in Corporate Tax who supervises tax coverage for many of the areas described above.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Juris Doctorate or non-U.S. equivalent; Tax LLM is a plus
- At least 4-8 years of relevant tax experience at a top-tier law firm with a strong tax practice (exceptional candidates with financial services industry experience at Big 4 accounting firms may be considered)
- Experience advising on investment and transactional tax issues impacting individuals, corporations (including RICs and REITs), partnerships, and trusts, as well as international and cross-border U.S. tax advisory, planning, and structuring
- Exposure to traditional and alternative investment management is a strong plus
- Experience with negotiating and drafting legal documents, partnership agreements, derivative documents, tax opinions, and fund offering materials
- Experience with U.S. and AEOI tax information reporting and withholding obligations is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to be self-directed
