- Perform control, boundary, topography, laser scanning and other tasks.
- Perform construction staking.
- Collect survey data using GNSS receivers, scanners, total stations, levels, and survey controllers.
- Produce clear and concise field notes and quality field data.
- Communicate with supervisor and office staff about important aspects of the project.
- Work outdoors in variable weather conditions and varied terrain.
Perform office duties, including:
- Field crew setup
- Geodetic control network planning and design
- Control survey processing and adjustment
- Construction staking preparation and quality checking
- Feature processing of topographic field data
- Generating, editing and clean-up of Digital Terrain Models (DTM)
- Title commitment review
- Public records research
- COGO calculations and boundary resolution
- Writing property descriptions
- Obtaining permits
- Obtaining Right of Entry
- Ensuring all QC plans are followed
- Assisting PM in estimating surveying tasks
- Scheduling tasks
- Collaborate with a multi-discipline team.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, including safety protocols.
- Participate in department and field crew training.
- Represent Jacobs with professionalism.
Here's what you'll need
- Experience working with surveying data using Civil3D, Microstation, OpenRoads, or similar CAD program.
- Proven ability to complete all technical aspects of a surveying task.
- Good social and communication skills.
- Ability to pass drug screen and background checks.
- Reputation as a trusted and respected member of the surveying community.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time (mostly within California, Nevada, and Arizona).
- Ability to pass drug screen and background checks.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Experience with Trimble equipment and software
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in applicable field
- 3 to 5 years of experience as an Instrument Operator, Party Chief, Survey Technician, or Project Surveyor
