In this role your primary objective is providing support to International AWM (Asset Wealth Management) in complying with the U.S. sanctions regulations administered by the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Asset Control (“OFAC”) and other applicable international sanctions programs. Additionally, you will focus on adhering to the compliance requirements under the Firm’s Sanctions Standards and will include supporting LSO (Line of Business Sanctions Officer) team colleagues and delivering other projects/initiatives related to sanctions to help drive change and a strong and consistent compliance culture within the Line of Business (LOB) and across the LSO team.

As s Sanctions Compliance Lead within Compliance Team, you will provide meaningful guidance to the AWM LOB as it relates to internal JPMorgan Chase sanctions-related policies and standards as well as promote industry best practices and maintain oversight of the business’ execution of the firm’s Global Sanctions Compliance program. The position sits within LSO team as part of Global Sanctions Compliance (“GSC”), a group within Global Financial Crimes Compliance responsible for the oversight of the Firm’s compliance with sanctions requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary point of contact for International AWM sanctions compliance issues and escalating as appropriate;
  • Act in conjunction with the Regional Sanctions Teams in Europe, Asia, Canada and Latin America to support AWM sanctions compliance issues and escalations in those locations;
  • Provide guidance and support to the LOB on the implementation and interpretation of the Firm’s sanctions policies and standards;
  • Escalate to the LOB significant sanctions-related issues for customer relationship and transaction due diligence reviews;
  • Research, analyze and provide recommended remediation efforts on Action Plans for clients/products that present sanctions and related risks;
  • Support general Compliance activities and other responsibilities, including special projects, implementation and maintenance of procedures, training, and ad-hoc reporting, as assigned;
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and sanctions changes in order to anticipate areas of focus and attention of regulators, keeping business management and Compliance colleagues informed
  • Serve in an advisory capacity for Sanctions Risk Assessments;
  • Develop, implement and maintain procedures and job aides, as appropriate;
  • Assist in developing and providing OFAC and international sanctions training to the LOB;
  • Partner across the LSO team and Global Sanctions Compliance to promote cross-LOB consistency and deliver efficiency, innovation and strategic change within the firm’s Global Sanctions Compliance program.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Relevant experience working with or in Compliance, Risk Management or Audit;
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Knowledge of OFAC and international sanctions regulatory requirements.
  • Banking experience inclusive of knowledge on banking processes, products, and controls.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Proven experience working in a complex multi-national organization.
  • Advanced problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex information to senior management.
  • Proven ability to build strong partnerships with colleagues.
  • Possess strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint.
