Description
Designing 3D models of mechanisms and drafting 2D documentation of all parts andassemblies• Building physical models to evaluate functionality, manufacturability, and robustness• Collaborating with Apple internal cross-functional teams and external vendors to developmanufacturing and assembly processes• Analyzing data generated from lab experiments and vendor builds to inform engineeringdecisions• Traveling both domestically and internationally to piece part and assembly vendors torealize the physical design and find root cause for failures
Minimum Qualifications
- A passion for functional design and an appreciation for detail
- • Self-motivated and self-starter
- • Flexibility and comfort working in a fast paced environment
- • Knowledge of general mechanical engineering analysis and fundamentals
- • 3D CAD experience or familiarity
- • Experience with rapid prototyping, hand and machine tools, and machine shop

- • Pursuing a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship / co-op experiences with demonstrated ability in mechanical design
- (preferably consumer electronics products).
- • Experience working with contract manufacturers.
- • Demonstrated ability in plastic and metal part design including material selection.
- • Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA),
- statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, and geometric
- tolerancing.
