You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.What you will do: As a member of the Edge & Specialized Hardware team, you’ll be responsible for architecture and design of power supplies, voltage regulation modules, power distribution, and monitoring. You will interact with engineers across the company and work with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production including design, development, validation, and the deployment of servers at scale.You will solve design challenges across many disciplines including server/board design, thermal-mechanical design, server firmware/software, integration into our software service control plane, manufacturing, and operations. You will deliver functional block diagram, schematics, specifications, analysis, test plans, and monitoring plans used to build our servers and components. You will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners to ensure our designs are of the highest quality. You will collaborate with cross-organizational teams to improve key factors such as quality, reliability, performance, and serviceability. You will be an end-to-end owner from concept, design, launch, and operation in our fleet. You will be hands on and comfortable with the entire technology stack from the service software all the way down to the silicon. You will use high judgement to solve problems individually or guide others when help is needed.This is a fast-paced, challenging position, and you’ll work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. As Senior Hardware Engineer you will be responsible for the architecture, design, deployment, of the Power Sub-system of next generation servers and systems including AC/DC power supplies, DC/DC Voltage regulation, and distribution.
You will collaborate with internal development teams and external suppliers to deliver the latest power technologies for integration with our new servers with industry leading performance and quality.
You will lead the integration and delivery of power subsystem for servers, support the development of automated monitoring, and failure analysis services to operate, debug, and scale our servers.
You will work closely with other AWS software/firmware teams to monitor power subsystems in the fleet and design mechanisms to predict potential failures

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience in designing power sub-systems for high availability (five-9s) computer/storage/accelerator servers or other complex products
- 7+ years' experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
- Experience in designing different power electronics circuit topologies, power sequencing techniques, and redundancy / failover mechanisms
- Familiarity with server power architectures including VRMs, POLs, and redundant PSU systems
- Working knowledge of key components: FETs, controllers, magnetics, and thermal management
- Experience in using tools like SPICE, SIMPLIS, or other power simulation software
- Experience with lab equipment for validation: oscilloscopes, power analyzers, electronic loads
- Ability to apply critical thinking in complex situations; experience working in cross functional groups including mechanical engineering, thermal engineering, test, reliability, and failure analysis.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
- Experience with the project management of technical projects
- 7+ years’ experience leading ODMs and other suppliers in the product development and manufacturing processes
- Experience with power, performance and cost optimization
- Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., Intel VR13/VR14 specs, Open Compute, 80 PLUS certification)
- Familiarity with server thermal and airflow constraints in datacenter environments
- Experience with power telemetry, PMBus, and digital power controllers
- Experience designing or testing products for safety, compliance, and regulatory standards from across the globe
