As a Senior Critical Environment Technician in Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, you will help to maintain the critical infrastructure that keeps our datacenters up and running. This could be anything from performing basic monitoring and inspection, performing various types of maintenance, participating in equipment troubleshooting, enforcing all safety and security requirements, and developing methods of operating procedures (MOPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND 3+ years mission critical services work/applied learning experience (e.g., high availability assembly/manufacturing/critical infrastructure environments such as data centers, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or related fields)
    o OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ year(s) experience in a specialized area (e.g., mechanical field, electrical field, controls field) or related field
  • Ability to work 12 hours shifts, including shift assignments during non-standard business hours that may include evening, weekends, and/or holidays.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Critical Environment Ops ATR-D - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $32.40 - $54.76 per hour. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $43.37 - $60.96 per hour.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation. Responsibilities
  • As an expert in critical data center systems, you will work on advanced tasks while advising junior colleagues. You’ll also serve as an expert in the regular inspection and supervision of critical environment-related facility equipment, building, and grounds.
  • You will utilize the internal computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track all equipment and complete maintenance requests, using predictive analysis to analyze equipment performance. You’ll also lead an onsite incident response team.
  • You will perform various types of maintenance for multiple disciplines and equipment types, while overseeing complex tasks. Using a hands-on understanding of how equipment works in all disciplines, you’ll also troubleshoot multiple equipment, systems, subsystems, and components.
    You will schedule supplier/vendor on-site activities, ensure it is performed to scope and completed in a safe manner, and approve invoices. You’ll also use your understanding of safety and security requirements to proactively ensure all requirements are followed.
  • You will submit reports on complex topics, analyze and document findings, and develop methods of operating procedure (MOPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for complex equipment. While scoping out project work, you’ll also coordinate schedules and activities with contractors, perform equipment inspections, and participate in testing.
