The Senior Staff Mechanical Engineerwilloperate as a leader and individual technical contributor, responsible for contributions towards and oversight of key Sleep Therapy product development projects from a mechanical engineering perspective.

Your role:

  • Conceptual design, prototyping, testing, and maintenance of electro-mechanical devices used to treat obstructive sleep apnea.
  • Developingof mechanical components, assemblies, plastic part design and high-volume manufacturing, injection molding
  • Coordinating and driving project activities from the mechanical engineering focus, ensuring and advancing the team’s adherence to good engineering practices, procedures and Quality System requirements.
  • Actively scheduling, organizing, and leading project meetings & design reviews for product concepts, solutions, results, and status.
  • Remain agile personally and within the team to adjust and respond to the needs of supporting product development and the demands of the business.
  • Maintaining and improving the quality position of the mechanical engineering team’s deliverables and the overall business unit’s products.
  • Composure, conflict management, timely decision making, listening skills, self-motivation, and perseverance are all requirements of this position.
  • Acting as a leader within the engineering team, ensuring active participation in activities that enhance the engagement of the overall team.
  • Mentor engineers on technical issues, problem solving strategies, and engineering principles.
  • Reporting to the Director of Sleep Therapy & Diagnostics Engineering, you will collaborate with a cross functional team of engineers and specialists throughout the Sleep & Respiratory Care organization.
  • ThisHybrid, Pittsburgh, PA basedrole may require travel up to 10%.


You're the right fit if:

  • You have a minimum of 10 years combined experience in product and process development within a regulated environment (FDA regulated medical device preferred), with a focus on the design/development of mechanical components, assemblies, plastic part design, high-volume manufacturing and injection molding.
  • You have proven expertise in solid modeling (CREO), CAE/FEA for structural, molding, thermal, or fluid flow (MoldFlow/ANSYS).
  • You have strong experience developing performance requirements, design documents, implementation and Design V&V processes and testing.
  • You’re experienced working with consumer products and marketing teams, contributing a technical voice to determining new product value propositions.
  • You have extensive experience developing injection-molded plastic parts, including material selection, and component over molding as well as a design background, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • You’ve displayed a strong understanding of high-volume, plastic part production qualification requirements (such as IQ/OQ/PQ) andquality assurance/regulatory requirements.
  • You’re able to understand dimensional tolerances, manufacturing capabilities and target costing, harmonizing designs with procurement engineers to ensure robust, successful supply chains.
  • You have demonstrated success in leading technical teams, with the ability to work on multiple projects.
  • You have proven creativity, strong technical judgment and the interpersonal skills required for the successful completion of multiple projects.
  • You have a minimum of aBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or Engineering Technology (Required). Master of Science-Desired.
