OpenShift Virtualization is looking for an engineer to join its development team. In this role, you will focus on KubeVirt (https://kubevirt.io/) and its adjacent projects focused on networking. This will require skills to quickly learn and work with complex systems, and the ability to collaborate in open-source communities. You will have the opportunity to work with the latest technologies in the market today like Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, Podman and Go.
What you will do
As part of a geographically distributed team, work with other software and quality engineers on design and implementation of features crossing multiple components within the product.
Play an active role and contribute to multiple open source projects and communities like KubeVirt, Kubernetes Network Plumbing Working Group, or nmstate.
Be a part of the development lifecycle, from planning, through design, stakeholder acceptance, implementation, testing and release, to long-term maintenance.
Promote clean code and good software engineering practices by leading by example and reviews.
Troubleshoot, analyze bug root causes, and provide resolutions and recommendations.
Play an active role in open source projects and communities.
Publicize the team's work through blogs, web postings, and conference presentations.
What you will bring
Experience in software design and development.
Experience working in a Linux environment with at least one language like Go, Python, Java, or C/C++.
Experience with Linux system programming or scripting.
Work experience in networking, virtualization and containers is a plus.
Experience contributing to open source is a plus.
Experience working in an agile environment is a plus.
Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
