About the role
On the programme you would have responsibility for leading the sustainability agenda, working with the various client organisations functions to identify and realise opportunities for more sustainable, efficient and innovative delivery. The role would work cross-functionally with the programme supply chain to capture market leading sustainable solutions throughout programme lifecycle.
The program role would support the land, property, and planning function to lead the environmental and sustainability sub-functional area, including developing and maintaining a resourcing plan.
You would bring to the role substantial sustainability experience of embedding sustainability and efficiency across the project lifecycle through to completion on transport or other major infrastructure projects.
You will be a positive communicator with strong influencing ability, who is able to lead tasks without direct supervision and coordinate the work of a task delivery team.
Qualifications
- A good degree qualification in a relevant environmental/natural science or similar subject;
- Significant and extensive experience with a strong technical understanding of sustainability strategy, environmental management and stakeholder engagement on these aspects;
- Knowledge and experience of addressing challenges and opportunities relating to circular economy and resource efficiency, decarbonisation, energy management, community and social value, life cycle assessment and/or sustainable procurement;
- A proven track record of successful project delivery on environmental and/or sustainability projects and programmes working in a client-facing role;
- Excellent report writing skills and substantial experience of report writing, presentations and workshop delivery;
- Experience of leading and managing teams, supporting resource development and deployment
- Strong technical understanding of sustainability or environmental management and demonstrable experience of providing advisory and practical support in embedding sustainability or environmental management within organisations and projects;
- Chartered professional status (e.g. Chartered Environmentalist);
- Experience of working within the infrastructure environment (highways, water, power, rail, waste management infrastructure providers or local authorities);
- Understanding of EU and Ireland specific policy and regulatory framework relation to sustainability. Including an understanding of the wider European sustainability goals, EU Taxonomy, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive etc
- Experience of data analysis methodologies and tools, including MS Excel, Power BI, ArcGIS, and LCA software
