Apple Hardware Reliability Engineer – Ecosystem

In this role, you’ll collaborate with the diverse hardware engineering and operation teams to ensure our products are not only durable and reliable, but also built to exceed expectations. From early concepts to mass production, you will drive studies to understand customer behaviors and perceptions, define the reliability requirements, design innovative reliability tests and characterization techniques, influence critical design decisions, and drive continuous product improvements.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a hardware-focused field (Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields).
  • Experience in defining hardware reliability spec and procedures, familiar with mechanical stress tests, drop/vibration/abrasion testing, environmental testing, etc..
  • Collaborative attitude and ability to communicate and work with cross-functionally teams effectively, in person and remotely.
  • Ability to make clear and concise presentations and deliver the messages confidently in front of cross-functional and leadership teams.
  • Proactive and strong attention to detail, curiosity about how technologies work.
  • Ability to travel domestically.
  • 3+ years of experience in a reliability engineering role.
  • M.S. or PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields.
  • Strong statistical experience such as Weibull, JMP, and familiarity with accelerated test models.
  • Strong understanding of the physics behind material properties (mechanical, electrical, etc.) and ability to use failure analysis methodology to derive a root cause of failure.
  • Ability to travel internationally without restriction.
