As an Aerospace Application Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
•Leading the way on application development for 3M Aerospace surface protection and adhesive products in Japan, including responsibilities for new product ideation, documentation of customer requirements, feasibility analysis, product validation, and specification penetration
•Collaborating with business and technical teams to develop and execute operational plans to ensure the success of application implementation and sales growth in the region
•Providing application support and training to Aerospace OEM’s, tiers, MRO facilities, and authorized 3M distributors, including in-person visits, product installations, presentations, and application demonstrations
•Gaining a complete understanding of the application effectiveness by leading field trials and internal testing of new and existing products, along with analyzing and presenting findings
•Striving to remain ahead of pending changes to industry standards, regulations, and best practices to maintain compliance
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
•Two (2) years of experience providing technical support to customers in technical sales and/or application engineering roles in a private, public, government, or military environment
•Speak fluently in English to have a direct exchange with the global team and the direct manager
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
•Expertise equivalent to that which would be obtained in a bachelor’s degree or higher in Composite Materials Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Materials Science
•Comprehensive knowledge of aerospace industry materials, technologies, processes, and specifications
•Experience with commercial and/or military aviation maintenance operations
•Experience with the commercialization of new products and application development
•Ability and willingness to effectively document technical work and present results
