What a typical day looks like:
Establish and manage long term strategic and core supplier relationships and will engage with Flex sites and business segments
Guide the selection, development and management of Core and Strategic Suppliers to meet commodity costs and performance goals
Organize and manage the commodity team with a focus on talent acquisition, retention and development and performance appraisal.
Implement programs for supplier selection, supplier performance management and supply base optimization
Provide Quotation centers with support from core and strategic suppliers to obtain competitive and timely quotes
Monitor current commodity market conditions, technology roadmaps and identify supply/demand challenges. Develop, implement and communicate tactical and strategic commodity plans internally and to Flex customers as appropriate
Collaborate with Customer Supply Chain Managers and Product Introduction centers to coordinate sourcing strategies and ensure a smooth and timely manufacturing ramp on new programs.
Provide access to leading technology, product roadmaps, technology strategies and industry trends.
Provide point of escalation for Commodity issues as appropriate.
Implement appropriate HR strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce.
• BA/BS degree.
• MBA is preferable
• Previous experience on Mechanical commodities: hardware, fastener and die- cuts, rubbers.
• Advanced English level.
• Extensive knowledge in mechanical fabrication processes applicable to the manufacturing processes for hardware, fastener and rubbers.
• Strong experience within the metal/ plastic industry (3D data, drawing interpretation, tolerances, etc.)
• Extensive knowledge in specifications and standards related to raw metals and plastics.
• Knowledge in creating, reading and improving Bill of Materials (BOMs).
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills: excel, project & power point.
• Strong experience in supply chain strategies, supplier development, scouting, NPI, localization, alternate qualification process and execution.
• Previous leadership experience managing teams.
• Decision maker and strategic thinking.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret MPI.
• Excellent communication skills.
