Transducer Mechanical Design Engineer (Reedsville, PA)

As a Development Engineer with focus in Mechanical Engineering on the Transducer R&D team, you will be a part of new product development spanning early feasibility studies through stable production. Your expertise will be required for the successful integration of acoustic, electrical, and mechanical components and tooling to meet performance, reliability, cost, and schedule goals.

Your role:

  • Responsible for the design, check and optimization, realization and integration, life-cycle management, and verification of components and tooling, relating to medical ultrasound transducers.
  • Develops the work with focus on user and business requirements, compliance, quality and cost. Develops high level and detailed designs in accordance with the product requirements and Philips reference architecture requirements.
  • Combines existing and/or purchased elements and parts into medical ultrasound transducers and manufacturing processes.
  • Finalizes the design and integration, and writes verification plans for the developed components and tooling. Tests, analyses and verifies the quality of the design.
  • Selects materials (metals and plastics) and processes appropriate for those designs.
  • Works collaboratively with a global cross functional team from R&D, Product Industrialization, and operations to develop new manufacturing process and improve current manufacturing processes.
  • Plan and prioritize your own and your team’s development activities and manage the interfaces with other modules/parts.

You're the right fit if:

  • Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering degree required, Masters of Science preferred
  • 5 or more years of proven design engineering and project engineering experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in SolidWorks with experience in geometric dimensioning and tolerance analysis
  • Experience in the design of mechanical constructions in plastic and/or metal and you are familiar with the mass manufacturability aspects (mold / assembly tooling design)
  • Ability to rapidly develop engineering concepts and drive them to functional prototypes.
  • Ability to design, develop, and debug mechanical components and assemblies for products and manufacturing tooling
  • Experience of manufacturing quality systems and working in a regulated industry
