The Head of Gen AI Model Compliance Review reports to the Head of the Office of Fair Lending and Privacy and is responsible for the framework and confirming execution of the required ICRM’s compliance reviews and assessments posed by Gen AI models produced by lines of businesses and functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight and guidance of the risk management processes to assess whether the bank’s generative AI models comply with applicable regulations, including data privacy (GDPR, CCPA), anti-discrimination, data localization, financial regulations (e.g., Dodd-Frank, Basel), and emerging AI-specific guidelines (e.g., EU AI Act, NIST standards).

  • Collaborate with ICRM Product and Functions teams to understand and assess the regulatory compliance risks associated with businesses and functions use of Gen AI in the respective businesses, functions, and locations (e.g. EU AI Act).

  • Work in partnership with legal, IT, Global Cyber Risk and Compliance, Risk Modeling, Risk Model Management, data scientists, and product development teams to ensure AI models are built, tested, and deployed in compliance with all regulatory requirements and ethical standards. This includes confirmation that there is sufficient and comprehensive documentation on AI model governance, including model validation, risk assessments, compliance checks, and audit trails.
  • Report on compliance activities to senior management and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Develop, implement or enhance compliance policies and procedures for the design, testing, deployment, and monitoring of generative AI systems, ensuring alignment with ethical AI standards and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • 10 to 15 years of experience in compliance, legal or other control-related function in the financial services firm, regulatory organization, or legal/consulting firm, or a combination thereof;
  • Previous work as a regulator is preferred
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex problems and solutions through concise and clear messaging.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess complex issues through root cause analysis and other analytical techniques, structure potential solutions, and drive to resolution with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to influence and lead people across cultures at a senior level using sound judgment and successful execution, understanding how to operate effectively across diverse businesses
  • Experience managing diverse teams, and comfort navigating complex, highly-matrixed organizations
  • Comfortable acting as an agent for positive change with agility and flexibility
  • Effective negotiation skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach
  • Executive presence and a reputation for building strong relationships with stakeholders and leading teams, both direct reports and in peer/influence models

Skills:

  • Deep understanding with AI model development processes, including training, validation, and testing of models.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess and mitigate complex compliance risks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate compliance issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in auditing, policy development, and risk management frameworks.
  • Ability to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and regulatory developments in AI and financial services.
  • The ability to develop talent and appropriate subject matter expertise.
  • Experience with managing complex regional and global projects.
  • The ability to manage relationship with multiple stakeholders or understanding of rolling out large scale changes across a complex matrixed organization.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, PhD, JD, or Master’s in AI/Technology) is preferred.
